November 1st Voice of Democracy Scholarship: Students in grades 9-12 compete by writing and recording a broadcast script on an annual patriotic theme. Record your original 3-5 minute (+ or -5 seconds) essay on a Flash Drive or CD on this year's theme "My Vision For America". Record your essay on a Flash Drive or CD and submit your neatly typed essay the completed entry form to your local VFW by November 1st, 2015. Provide these three items to your local VFW Post for judging. Local winner receives $1,000 and the opportunity to progress to further competition. Grand prize winner receives $30,000. November 1st Ron Brown Scholarship Program: This scholarship seeks to identify African-American students who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, show exceptional leadership potential, and make an impact on their communities through service to others. Applications must be downloaded and mailed in by January 9, 2016. If you apply before November 1, 2015, your application will be entered for consideration in the Ron Brown Scholarship Program, but your application will also be forwarded to some other eligible scholarships. November 3rd Farm City Week Scholarship: (Awaiting Updated Information) For High School Seniors planning to attend a university or community college and enrolling in an Agricultural program. You must have a 2.5 GPA. Please see your Guidance Counselor for an application, and more details. Scholarship value is $500. Application must be at the NC Cooperative Extension Office in Lillington by November 7, 2014. Therefore, it is due to Mrs. Thompson in Guidance by November 3, 2014.

November 3rd The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards honors high school students around the country for outstanding acts of community service. Winners of this award will receive $1,000 and a trip to Washington D.C. Click Here to apply.

November 3rd Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship: This foundation will select up to 40 recipients nationwide, for a scholarship worth up to $30,000 per year. Applicants must plan on attending a 4-year college/university, must have a 3.5 GPA or above, and a minimum SAT of 1200 (reading and math) or ACT composite of 26. They consider applicants with a family income up to $95,000 per year.
In addition to the other requirements, applicants are selected based upon their demonstration of:
  • Exceptional Academic Ability and Achievement
  • Unmet Financial Aid
  • Persistence
  • Leadership
  • Desire to help others.

Nobember 15th The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship: A "full-tuition" scholarship to UNC-Chapel Hill, for aspiring writers. Students must apply to the UNC-Chapel Hill by October 15th, 2015 and then apply for the Thomas Wolfe Scholarship by November 15, 2015. You must do both to be considered. This is a scholarship application that will require a lot of work, so do not wait until the last minute. Click Here for more information.

November 15th Erskine College Presidential Scholarship: Similar to what used to be called the EB Kennedy Scholarship. This is a “full-ride” scholarship to Erskine College. To apply, students must submit their application to Erskine College and their scholarship essay by the deadline of November 15, 2014.
The essay must following one of these two topics:

  1. At Erskine, we encourage students to go beyond simply preparing for careers and to consider the larger purpose of their lives. College is an excellent time to consider how your unique talents, interests, and opportunities fit into the bigger picture (your vocation or calling). How do you plan to use your college experience to explore your vocation or life’s calling?
  2. Discuss how your personal interests, goals, and your approach to learning align with Erskine’s mission statement:

November 15th University of South Carolina General Scholarships: These scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen. In order to be considered for one of these awards, you should apply for admissions by November 15, 2015 and follow the application instructions. Click Here to apply.
