March 1st GOLDEN LEAF SCHOLARSHIPS- APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 1:
The Golden LEAF Scholars Program is designed to assist current high school seniors and North Carolina community college transfer students. Recipients must be from certain rural counties and demonstrate both financial need and merit to attend qualified North Carolina colleges and universities in the fall of 2014. The scholarship is funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation through a grant to the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority. The number of years of scholarship support depends on the degree sought and the number of credits transferred.

To be considered for this award, a student must:

The scholarship provides $3,000 a year for up to 4 years to high school seniors and $3,000 a year for up to 3 years to community college transfer students

Application is available at www.CFNC.org/goldenleaf(Priority deadline is March 1, 2016. Scholarships will be awarded until funds run out. Students may still apply after 3/1.) Official Deadlines are set by each individual institution.
Application must be turned in to, or mailed to the admissions office at the community college or university you intend to attend.
FAFSA must be submitted between January 1 and March 1, and is available at www.fafsa.gov


1st The UNCG Guarantee Scholarship: This is more than a scholarship. Recipients of this award will not only receive Full Tuition to UNCG. Recipients will also be involved in a program that includes workshops, mentoring, studying abroad, and leadership training. This scholarship's goal is to assist academically sound disadvantaged students. Applicants must have a 1000 SAT (Critical Reading + Mathematics) or a 21 Composite Score on the ACT, must have completed their FAFSA, must qualify for Federal Student Aid, and must fall under the HHS 2014 poverty line. 1st The United Methodist Church Student Scholarships: The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation gives away over 1200 scholarships each year. There are a handful of different scholarships for which our students are eligible to apply. To apply for these, visit https://www.umhef.org/scholarship-search#filter.

2nd Capital Area United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Association Scholarship: Student must be a member of the Capital Area USBC Association, child of a member, or grandchild of a member. Student must also have at least a 2.5 gpa. A copy of the application can be found online at www.raleighbowling.com/scholarships. Application must be postmarked no later than March 2.



2nd Harnett County Farm Bureau County Scholarship: 1 applicant will be selected from each Harnett County high school. $500 scholarship. Those applying should be a member of a "farming family." Applications can be turned in to your counselor by March 2 or mailed and received by March 4 to Farm Bureau in Lillington.




2nd NC FARM BUREAU R. FLAKE SHAW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM-Deadline March 2-

The University/College Scholarship
The scholarship valued at $3500 per year for four years to a student majoring in an agriculturally related curricula at a University/College.

The scholarship valued at $1000 per year for two years to a student majoring in an agriculturally related curricula at a University/College.

6th Dunn Woman's Club Scholarship: The Dunn Woman's Club is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving female Senior who wishes to continue their Academic career. Applicants must be in the top 10% of their Senior class, and are expected to have been active in their community and school. Turn the attached scholarship into your Guidance Counselor by March 6.


7th Dunn Rotary Club Scholarship

The Dunn Rotary Club will give three $1000 scholarships to students planning to continue their education after high school. Please complete the application below and submit it to guidance by March 7.



13th NINA COURTNEY ALPHIN SCHOLARSHIP: Amount of Scholarship: $1000

Open to any Triton High School senior planning to attend Campbell University, who is a handicapped student or is a student with high moral and ethical traits who shows great empathy and compassion to those with handicaps. 15th ANDREW BROOKS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - ST. STEPHEN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
Deadline: March 15th

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church is sponsoring a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 and is designed to assist at THS student who plans to attend an institution of higher learning with the cost of tuition.
All Triton High School Seniors are encouraged and welcome to apply.

Students should have a clear intention of attending an institution of higher learning on a full-time basis. Institutions of higher learning include universities, colleges, or community colleges.

Preference is given to students who exhibit high academic achievement, volunteerism within the community, and participation in church and extra curricular activities. Financial need is also strongly considered.
The Andrew Brooks Memorial - St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Scholarship is given without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, or church affiliation.

A completed application consists of an envelope containing
(1) the application
(2) essay
(3) letter of recommendation from a teacher (academic reference)
(4) letter of recommendation from your preacher (character reference),
(5) an official transcript of grades.






15th Dunn Lions Club- Mayo Smith Scholarship

The Dunn Lion's Club will award to a deserving senior of Triton High School a scholarship in the amount of $500. The applicant will be chosen by the Dunn Lion's Club Scholarship Committee based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership abilities, citizenship, financial need and recreational activities.

Preference will be given to students in the following categories:
1. Student with visual impairment
2. Student whose parent(s) have a visual impairment
3. Student pursuing a sight related career
4. Student pursuing a health related career

This scholarship may be used toward tuition at any techinical school, college or university.

15th BIG BROTHER BIG SISTER CLUB HEATHER ASHLEY MEMORIAL & JASMINE WHITE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS:

DEADLINE: March 15

To award a $500.00 scholarship to a graduating male senior (Big Brother) and a $500.00 scholarship to a graduating female senior (Big Sister) who is a member of the BB/BS club and who plans to attend an institution of higher learning in the fall.
Eligibility Requirements:
This scholarship is open to all THS students without regard to race, national origin, sex, religious beliefs or disability.
The student must show clear evidence of acceptance by an accredited college, university, vocational or community college.
The student must be an active member of the Triton Big Brother/ Big Sister Club.
The student must demonstrate high moral character and embrace good citizenship.
The student must demonstrate the desire and ability to socialize and work with individuals who have mental/physical disabilities

Recipients will receive a minimum of $1,000 for a single year of undergraduate study. Financial need must be demonstrated.

16th GLENN R. VARNEY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP ~ Deadline to Apply is March 16
The Glenn R. Varney Endowed Scholarship is named in memory of Glenn R. Varney, former coach and educator who honorably served Dunn High School and Triton High School for a total of 35 years. Coach Varney was known and loved in his community as a person who instilled confidence, perseverance, and self-discipline in his athletes and former students with whom he worked.
The amount of scholarship dollars awarded per recipient is not to exceed $4,800 per scholarship and/or funds available. The Varney scholarship funds may not be used to supplement other scholarships.

Eligibility Requirements:
  1. Must be a senior at Triton High School who is currently in good standing. (No ISS or DSS during Jr. or Sr. Year.)
  2. Must have an overall weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Must be accepted into and enrolled full time at an accredited institution of higher education for the next academic (Fall & Spring) year.
  4. Must be a US Citizen and legal resident of North Carolina.
  5. Must be/have been an active participant in Triton’s varsity football program.



16th American States Utility Services Scholarship: American States Utility Services, Inc. and its wholly-owned Subsidiaries (ASUS, Inc.) has established a scholarship program to assist dependent children of active, full-time U.S. Military members at ASUS served locations who are current high school seniors and planning to continue their education in college or vocational school programs in the fields of environmental science, technology, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry, medical sciences, mathematical sciences, business management or acquisition and contract management. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Dependent* children of active, full-time U.S. Military members at ASUS served locations who work 32 hours or more per week and have at least one (1) year of service by the application deadline date.*Dependent children include unmarried, natural or legally adopted children, stepchildren, and any other children for whom the Military member has been appointed legal guardian.
  • High school seniors who have been accepted into a full-time undergraduate course of study in environmental science, technology, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry, medical sciences, mathematical sciences, business management or acquisition and contract management at an accredited two- or four-year college or a vocational-technical school.
    Full-time study is defined as carrying a full course load for the entire upcoming academic year.

20th HARNETT COUNTY BUSINESS EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP- DEADLINE March 22 to THS Guidance:
The HCBEP offers this $500.00 scholarship to a Senior at each high school in Harnett County who:
  • Has been accepted to a college/community college/university.
  • Is a full time high school student while working a part time job.
  • Has maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher.




27th ANGIER MASONIC LODGE SCHOLARSHIP
DEADLINE: POSTMARKED BY MARCH 31 if STUDENT MAILS THIS SCHOLARSHIP- OTHERWISE DEADLINE TO THS IS March 23.

The purpose of the Angier Masonic Lodge's Scholarship is to provide funding for a worthy student.
The scholarship committee will base its decision on financial need, academics and civic involvement.
The scholarship provides funding in the following manner:
  • One time $750 funding to one student at Triton High School and one student at Harnett Central High School.
  • The funding check will be made payable to the school of the recipient's choice and cosigned by the recipient.
Students must complete the application below and attach a transcript.


30th Becas Univision Scholarships: 34 $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to students of Latin American Descent. You must have at least a 3.0 GPA Priority will be given to students who complete their scholarship application before February 28th, 2015. April 1st Sandhills Antique Farm Equipment Club Scholarship: This club's mission is to preserve southern agriculture heritage through restoration and display of antique farm equipment at work, and to provide fun and educational family activities for North Carolinians of all ages. This scholarship is intended for students who have an interest in pursuing a career in agriculture. Four recipients from are high schools will receive this $500 scholarship.

Requirements:
  • Scholarship recipient must be a United States Citizen.
  • Scholarship recipient must be a graduating senior of a High School, home school, or private school in Harnett County, NC, and have a 3.0 or higher GPA for the senior year. Four recipients will be chosen from the applications received each receiving a $500 scholarship.
  • Scholarship recipient must attend a North Carolina college or university (2 or 4 year) for the school year the scholarship is awarded.
  • Scholarship recipient must be enrolled full time in a degree program for agriculture or a related field.

Return the completed packet to your Guidance Counselor by April 1st, if you would like us to mail it. If not, make sure you have your transcript before Spring Break, because the packet is due over the break.



April 1st North Carolina Bar Association Scholarship Program For Children of NC Law Enforcement Officers:

This program awards scholarships ranging from $250-4,000 to children of NC law enforcement officers killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty. . Application must be returned to the mailing address on the application no later than Wednesday, April 1, 2015. This is a scholarship that benefits deserving families, so if you know of a family that can benefit from this opportunity, please share this information with one of Triton's Guidance Counselors, so they can contact the student.







April 1st Rebecca Munn Stanfield Memorial Scholarship Endowment:
This fund provides scholarships to support graduating seniors or graduates from Triton High School, Midway High School, or any other high school and who have an immediate family member who attended, taught at, or was employed at Dunn High School. The term "immediate family" includes: mother, father, grandparent, great grandparents, or other legal guardians. "Immediate family" does not include aunts and uncles, unless they are the student's legal guardian(s). Eligible applicants must be citizens of the United States and must have been accepted to an institution of higher learning, such as technical school, trade, school, community college, junior college or university and have plans to enroll on a full-time basis.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • The student’s immediate family must have attended, taught at or been employed at Dunn High School. The term “immediate family” includes mother, father, grandparents, great grandparents, or other legal guardian. This does not include aunt, uncle, etc. unless they are designated as a legal guardian.
  • The student must show clear evidence of acceptance by a technical school, trade school, community school, junior college, college or university.
  • The scholarship is open to all students without regard to race, national origin, sex, religious beliefs or physical impairments.
  • Past academic achievements and financial need will be factors for determining the recipients of a Rebecca Munn Stanfield Memorial Scholarship.

CRITERIA

  • The criteria to be considered in selecting the applicants for the scholarship are:
  • The student must enroll in a full-time academic program for the fall semester/quarter of the year the scholarship is given.
  • The student must be a United States citizen.
  • The student must be of good moral character, in the judgment of the Scholarship Committee.
  • The student must provide complete information on the source and amount of other scholarships and grants that have been awarded to them or which they have applied.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Complete and submit a signed, completed application (linked below) to NCCF no later than April 1.
  • Student must provide three letters of recommendation from persons who are not related by blood or marriage to the student, with at least one of the recommendations being from a faculty member at their designated High School.
  • The applicant must attach a two to three typed paragraph summary describing his or her educational and career goals and why receiving this scholarship would help him or her in accomplishing their goals. (Note: Student should include in these paragraphs financial need and any extenuating circumstances the Scholarship Committee may need to know to assist with its selection process)

April 3rd HARNETT COUNTY HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION-
Preference given to students of Harnett County HBA members and/or students pursuing a career in a construction related field such as drafting, engineering, carpentry or electrical . Amount of the scholarship is $1,000 and for one year. Three students from Harnett County High Schools will receive this scholarship.

Eligibility
  • The first preference for the scholarships will be to students of Harnett County HBA members and/or students pursuing a career in a construction related field. Construction related field is to include: drafting, engineering, carpentry, electrical, etc. However, all students entering their freshman year at a four year college or two year technical college can be eligible for these scholarships depending on the number of applications received.
  • Length of Time
  • Scholarships will be for one year.
  • Criteria
  • Scholarships will be awarded by an evaluation committee who will review all applications. First preference will go to student attending college or technical school in NC and have immediate family member affiliation with Home Builders Association.
  • Scholarship Number and Amount
  • There will be 3 scholarships given each year in the amount of $1,000 each.
  • Timetable
  • Scholarship winners will be announced each year at Senior Scholarship Night in the spring.

  2. Gather 2 letters of recommendation from teachers, ministers, etc. These letters should not be from family members. The letters should include how long the person has known you and comment on your intellect, leadership, work ethic, creativity, or any other information that they believe would be valuable to the evaluation committee.
