Louis G. Joseph
Memorial Scholarship

The Louis G. Joseph Memorial Scholarship is named in memory of Louis G. Joseph. Louis dedicated over 45 years of his life helping others as a member of the Erwin Fire Department and Rescue Squad, 30 of those years he spent as Chief. He was very passionate about his work as a volunteer and always went the extra mile. Louis helped so many during his tenure both personally and professionally. He would assist families who had just lost everything from a fire with clothes for the parents and children from his business; he always would say that we were just doing god’s work. He was a man who was certainly admired and so well respected and we will never forget him and his service.

For his dedication and service to this community we are honoring him with this scholarship in his name. Louis was very passionate about education for the younger generation and one of the last things he had discussed with one of his daughters was to make sure her son got a college education.

The amount of the scholarship dollars awarded will be a minimum of $800.00. Money will be paid directly to the financial aid office of the college to which the student plans to attend. The scholarship is nonrenewable and available to high school seniors only. In the event the recipient has received 100% scholarship/financial aid at the school they plan to attend, the Louis Joseph Scholarship money will be awarded to an alternate candidate.
